The Best Career Advice I Ever Received

When I was heading off to university, a mentor told me something that felt blunt at the time, but has since become my North Star:
"Only fools try to navigate life on their own."
The truth is, no one can be a "total content provider." To succeed in business, family, and relationships, you have to trust the people around you. Your network; your friends, family, and colleagues, is the single greatest predictor of your success.
I’ve built my career on three simple rules:
Be reliable: Make yourself invaluable to those around you.
Be selective: Don’t pour your energy into those who don’t value you.
Be a connector: The real key to success is "putting people with people."
Recently, I hit a crushing setback at work. It was one of those moments that makes you want to close off and second-guess everything. But as I took time to reflect, I realized that far more good has come into my life through trust than through distrust.
By taking an honest account of my wins and recognizing every person who helped me reach them, I’ve regained my perspective. I’m moving forward with a thankful heart and a clear focus on rebuilding—together.
Gratitude is a powerful fuel. To everyone who has been part of my network: Thank you for being part of the journey.
